| Scenario | Future RangerBall Scenarios | Hammer | Okay, so this is going to try to start out as a planning platform to come up with ideas for future Scenarios. I would like to see one more good Scenario before Summer hits. So I am thinking that we shoot for a scenario about the third or fourth Sat. in May. That gives us all of March, & April, as well as a good portion of May. About Two and a half months to plan and execute a scenario. I think that this is about enough time and does\'nt get any one in trouble with their spouses. So what I am looking for is Disscussion on the Date of the Scenario. And secondly, what scenario we want to do? And Third, who wants to do the planning on it? I will help with overall planning and with any hiccups that might happen, but we need a Ranger to step forward. |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Hammer | Okay, so we need to set some guidelines for the next big Scenario. First, it needs to be a Rangerball Regiment fund rasier. This means setting a entery fee/ Donation at a reasonable amount. Next we allow only Scenario paint, We have our source for this now. And the Third part of this is that we sell raffle tickets as a Spring fund rasier. The Raffle will be held sometime say early summer, this gives enough time to get interest stirred up. I am thinking that we should raffle a Tippmann X7. Perhaps $5 per ticket, or 5 tickets for $20. We need at least two moonths time, preferably more to sell enough tickets to make it worth it for the Regiment. Plus it draws more paintball players to our events. It would be Ideal to have the Raffle Draw at the conclussion of a big Scenario. |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Hammer | Mikhail - this one is to you. Do you have a scenario idea put together? Or was Mt. Suribachi your scenario? If you still have one that you would like to bring forward, then lets plan for it for the May Scenario. If not, comment and let me know. For everyone else, this is something that ALL Rangerball members can participate in, and should be apart of. If you would like to contibute, let me know. |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Ajax | BTW, I spoke w Hammer the other day about becoming the S-5 (Plans) for the Regiment. Looks like he\'s taking that on. The S-5 function is to look ahead and put together our long-term calendar. Doesn\'t mean he plans/coordinates/controls every scenario, but is the overall facilitator & organizer.
So, you other guys need to start chiming in here. It turns out I won\'t be able to push things forward for the next few months. More on that later. . .
Ajax |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Ajax | If I were going to be around, these are some areas/scenario ideas I\'ve been kicking around:
- Independent Ops (actually Soul Man\'s idea). Each squad leader gets briefed in advance on objective, startpoint and start time. Its up to them to recruit their squad, develop a plan, and be ready to go. They each jump off independently and move to the objective(s). Squads could have to rendezvous with another friendly squad, or maybe all squads compete w each other.
- All-day recon/raid mission. Start in morning, go till late afternoon. Multiple waypoints/objectives. OPFOR is out patrolling, looking for Blue. Ambushing/sniping them at certain points. Certain segments/times are \'masks off\'.
- There is a place up on Webster Flat by Cedar Breaks. Aspen and pine trees. Would be cool in the summer. Nice campground. Would be a great place for a large scenario. Would need to check rules, and reserve the group campground.
First two are concepts, not location specific. |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Hammer | Yes Ajax, I will take on the S-5 spot. I am thinking that the next two months are for small training/practice type engagements. Perhaps we use the Kill House, maybe not. I am looking for input for alternative locations. We could always go back and use Taliban Canyon for a training area. I will also look around for locations, but for now I am going to say that the next training/practice event will be at the Kill house, and on a Sat. this month. I need to hear from everyone, what Sat. will work best, so look at your calenders and speak up. |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Hammer | For May, lets plan on setting up a Scenario for up to 60 players. I am thinking something alittle more vegetation and more accessible. Also I am thinking of an entrance fee of $15 per person. And it should be a Scenario paint only, they will have to buy their paint from Ryan. Perhaps, Ryan can bump the price up alittle to cover himself and alittle extra for the Regiment. Even at this, I assume that Ryan can still offer a good price on paint.
So we just need a Member to step and Chair the May Scenario game. I would suggest that from here on out, that every Big Scenario have a Scenario committee. The Chairperson, and two members to decide the Scenario and logistics of the game. Also they should be prepared to be Primary Controllers during the Game. This gives us Three (3) Head Controllers, in a sense that have intimate knowledge of the scenario, to be better able to direct and control it. |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | soul man | I think that march 17th is a time that we need to have all ten guys going to green river. talk about the compation and do some drill. have an op force and practice what willbe going an. we also need to get money from those playing, plan travle and other acomadations. |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Hammer | Have we recieved a confirmed report back? I have not heard. Hammer |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Ajax | For the next two events -- 10 Mar training w Natl Guard & 21 Apr Green River Scenario -- I need to designate people to be in charge of the Regiment\'s participation.
Kimo has agreed to take the 10 Mar training. This is not a for sure thing yet, but he should know soon and communicate the details.
Hammer, will you take on the Green River scenario? You\'ve got connections on this already. You are going, right?
Ajax |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Hammer | Ajax, I do have the connections for the Green River Event. However, I have a meeting that I have to attend that weekend in Price, UT. I have already been obligated to this meeting for over a year. Also I have not seen any definitive proof that this event is still on scheduale. I will follow up with Danger Dan to find out where they are at on this however. I can help with Logistics, but unfortunately will be unable to attend. Hammer |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Ajax | Hammer, don\'t worry about following up w Danger Dan. I did talk to him last week, and it\'s a 99% for sure thing. They have all the important permissions.
OK, Soul Man, I think you\'ve got to be the man on this one. Like we talked about, you\'ve got some of your \'ringers\' you think will come. Need to round those guys up.
I\'ll have to go back and count, but I think we have 6 \'for sures\' in the Regt. With me out, that leaves 5, so we need another 5 players.
Ajax |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | soul man | I will do my best but anyone that know people that want to play in this one lets get em. |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Hammer | I will pass the word with the guys from my group in Price, UT. There are a couple of guys up there, that are willing to drive for a event like this. Let me know what additional info you guys need for Green River? |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Hell Boy | Hammer I have been thinking about doing Hamburger Hill. I will have more later, I was thinking about that hill by gunlock. |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Hammer | May 19th. Is the day for the Big Spring Rangerball Scenario. I am going to start the PR for it within another week or so. Hell Boy, you have the Ball. Hamburger Hill @ the big knoll south of Gunlock. And I would recommend planning for 60+ players. Let me know what help you will need. Also, I would like to use some of our ideas from the Staff Meeting the other night. Lets see what we can come up with for Scenario T-shirts to sell to participants. Also Soul Man, what about Paint for sell? If I know that it is something that we can provide, then I will advertise it. I am not saying that we impose Scenario-Paint only at this Scenario, just that we have it available for sell.
Also Hell Boy, I think that we are going to want the staging area farthur up in the valley. Perhaps near the Pump house? |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | soul man | I can get paint if there is enough iterest. 15 boxes is the minimum. I will get paint if atleast ten people want paint. I will get us good paint at a good price. who wants paint?, I think Frontline and Signature will be what I order. Just sound off and I will keep count. |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Hammer | Soul Man I am sure that there will be enough interest, but I will mention it when I start the PR for the Spring Scenario. Anyone else that is already planning to attend, and would be interested in having Soul Man get you a good deal on paint, sound off and let him know. We are not going to require field paint at this time, but will have limited sales for those interested. |
| Scenario | Re:Future RangerBall Scenarios | Hammer | Okay, so May 19th seems to still be good for the scenario. I am going to start advertising it this week, if there are no problems? At this time we are planning a Scenario that will be named\"Hamburger Hill\". Most of us have at least some knowledge of the infamous \"Hamburger Hill\" from the Vietnam War, the scenario will be basically be Red team will control the \"Hill\" and Blue team will attempt to take control of it. Actual scenario logistics will be posted at a later date, to some degree. As before, everyone planning to attend should contact in advance. I would like to try increasing the turnout on this scenario, by allowing walk-ons. This will also avoid other issues that arose at \"Black Thorn\", for those of you that where there as we wrapped up. However anyone wanting to buy paint from the Regiment, will need to pre-order with Soul Man. Mikhail is the planner for this Scenario, and Head Controller. I am only providing Scenario Logistics, so don\'t ask me Scenario specific questions, please. |
| Scenario | Operation Anaconda | Ajax | Speaking of scenarios, some of you may recall the USAF guys from the Ground Combat Trng Center, that played in Black Thorn. One of them is SSgt Brett LaFreniere, also known as \"LA\". He and I have kept in contact, and the troops at the GCTS are still jazzed about doing a Rangerball-like scenario down by their base outside Las Vegas.
In fact, LA just sent me the description for a scenario, emulating the biggest battle of the 2002 Afghanistan Campaign, which was Operation Anaconda. This was about the only time that AQ and the Taliban stood and fought us, and some truly heroic deeds were witnessed. He wants to do it up on Mt. Charleston. . . Interesting.
Obsessed minds think alike, I guess. I have been scheming about putting on an \"Operation Anaconda\" ever since 2002. In fact, the scenarios we\'ve done in Taliban Canyon have been building blocks for a 2-day event covering much more ground. On our old blog, you\'ll find Hammer and I trading notes on this.
http://rangerball.blogspot.com/2006/10/purpose-of-this-blog.html
I\'m not proposing anyone tackle this right away. Just sharing some of the visions that dance in my head.
Ajax |
| Scenario | Re:Operation Anaconda | Ajax | Just for grins, here\'s the original file I wrote up in Dec 2002, describing a two-day tactical scenario, and pretty much laying out a framework for what has become Rangerball. Cool to see how things have progressed. We\'re already well past the \"12-40 participants\" stage.
OPERATION ANACONDA: A PAINTBALL ADVENTURE
Operation Anaconda is an outdoor “scenario paintball†event designed for 12 to 40 participants, and intended to last for up to two days, including one overnight camp. It is meant to combine the following elements into a unique, exciting adventure experience:
- leadership
- teamwork
- hiking
- camping
- map reading
- small unit tactics
- role playing
- problem-solving
- heartpounding suspense
- adrenalin-pumped paintball action
Scenario events are a popular form of paintball, one that has caught the imagination of thousands of players around the world. Some scenario paintball events include hundreds of participants, and highly elaborate set-ups and scripts. Operation Anaconda is much smaller and simpler, with the focus on playability and practicality, but it could be developed further in the future.
The premise of Operaton Anaconda’s scenario comes from a real-world battle in Afghanistan in 2002. In the spring of that year, U.S. troops surrounded and then attacked hard-core Al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters dug into the mountains. There were reports that senior Al-Qaeda leaders--possibly including Usama Bin Laden--were holed up in bunkers and caves. The ground combat during Operation Anaconda was probably the most intense that U.S. forces have yet faced in Afghanistan, and enemy resistance was surprisingly fierce. Many of the Al-Qaeda fighters made their last-ditch stand, and fought to their death. Unfortunately, Usama Bin Laden was not found.
In the paintball version of Operation Anaconda, participants have a chance to recreate a slice of that history--and maybe in this version the world’s most wanted man will meet the justice he deserves!
There are three types of participants, with different roles in the game:
- Blue Team. Playing the role of U.S. Special Forces troops, with the mission of capturing or killing Al-Qaeda fighters, and bringing in Usama Bin Laden--dead or alive. Blue Team members are the main “audience†for Operation Anaconda. The event is designed mainly to challenge, engage and train them. Details of the scenario will not be given to the Blue Team in advance, and they will need to work out the many problems they encounter with minimal guidance. Depending on how many participants there are, the Blue Team will be organized into as many as 4 squads of 4 to 6 players each wearing blue armbands.
- Red Team. Playing as the Mujahadin of Al-Qaeda, protecting their leader, helping him escape, and trying to kill as many soldiers of the Great Satan as possible. In scenario terms, the Red Team is the “OpFor†(Opposing Force). They are actually part of the scenario and know all the details. Their main job is to make things interesting and exciting for the Blue Team, but this doesn’t mean they are just targets. In some instances the Red Team will need to use hit-and-run tactics or avoid contact altogether. At other times they will mount daring attacks or defend tenaciously. Since they will almost always be outnumbered, the Red Team members should be smart outdoorsmen, in good shape, and the most skilled paintballers in the game. The Red Team will be organized into several squads of 2 to 4 players each. Predictably, they’ll wear red armbands.
- Controllers. These are the “referees†of the scenario that help keep the game running smoothly and safely and provide the adult supervision. At a minimum, one controller will be assigned to each Blue Team squad. There may also be other controllers in other roles. The Controllers perform several vital functions. They follow behind Blue Team squads to monitor their location, give them guidance if required, and to adminster “timeout†periods and “regenerations†when players are hit. Controllers stay in contact with each other via hand-held radio and may operate vehicles and distrubute supplies and meals. The Controllers really are the ones who make the scenario run, and it is vital that they manage the “flow†of the game and “nudge†it in the right direction if things get off track. They also need to keep safety as the top priority and should intervene if things get unsafe. (To avoid having all the work and no fun, Adult leaders participating in Operation Anaconda may switch off being a Controller and a Blue or Red Team member.) Controllers wear green or white armbands. |
| Scenario | Re:Operation Anaconda | Ajax | And here\'s the Ops Plan that LA put together and sent me just today. Like I said, obsessed minds think alike:
\"Here is the scenario that I was thinking on if you wanted to pass it on to your
guys. This is the first draft so it will change some. I will have videos, pictures and WARNO/OPORDs made for both the enemy and friendly teams. Don\'t give away too much to them. Please have them contact me. Thank you and once again good luck and stay safe.\" -- LA
OPERATION ANACONDA: OPERATONAL PLAN
February 2007: Increasing signals and human intelligence indicates a strong presence of Taliban and Al-Qaeda fighters in the Shahi-Kot Valley (Mt. Charleston). It is unknown as to how many fighters are believed to be wintering and possibly preparing for a spring offensive in the valley. The signal intelligence also has raised the possibility that high-value targets (HVTs) were present in the valley. In late February plans have been drawn up to assault the Shahi-Kot Valley on the weekend of 24 March using U.S. special operators known as Silver Flag Alpha Expert Cadre. MSgt Brian Lewis has been put in command of the operation.
The plan calls for an attack on the valley, along with one unit positioned in the mountains to the east to prevent escape into Pakistan and also as a back up force if needed. It has been decided to use U.S. Air Force Special Operators, consisting of 1st Squad, Team Punishment of the 99th Ground Combat Training Squadron led by TSgt James Scott to lead the assault into the valley and 2nd Squad, Team Infidel of the 99th Ground Combat Training Squadron lead by TSgt John Swalek, to secure the blocking positions and act as the backup force. With the heavy amount of operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, at this time fire support is unavailable.
LA asked me to keep other parts under wraps, but you get the idea. Fun and sun in the mountains!
I\'m going to get him in touch with the Regiment, and hopefully he\'ll also sign up for this forum. Maybe you guys can start brainstorming this while I\'m gone, and we can try some version of it next fall.

| Scenario | Re:Operation Anaconda | Bad Karma Six | Hey Guys,
Keep Bad Karma updated on any of this. We would love to attend. |
| Scenario | Green River / White Sands Conflict 2007 | Ajax | Here\'s a thread for you to start coordinating for the Green River event. I see they\'re calling it \'White Sands Conflict 2007\'.
http://www.mpaintball.com/Paradox
This is the same outfit (Millenium Paintball and Paradox Games) that puts on \'Aliens in the Rockies\' each year up north. Now they\'re trying to begin the
\'Tactical Scenario Series\', and this is the first.
It is an exclusive event, and the Rangerball Regiment is invited.
Wish I could be w you guys. Looks like it will be tough. Ranger up!
Ajax |
| Scenario | Re:Green River / White Sands Conflict 2007 | Chewy | Just got back from taking a look at the website Ajax posted. After reading the information, I think we need to get focused our ambush and defensive stances since it looks like being an \"Iranian\" team will require us to be able to impede the advancing teams without sustaining casualties. I can\'t wait to go up and compete. |
| Scenario | Re:Green River / White Sands Conflict 2007 | Ajax | When I spoke w Dan about being \'Iranian\', he said something about all the teams playing all the positions. So it looks like the OPFOR would have to take the offense too, at times.
But, he was hazy about it, so I recommend clarifying as much as possible. |
| Scenario | Re:Green River / White Sands Conflict 2007 | BadAndy | I just looked at the site too.
Man that looks like fun. I think grenades are going to be a neccesity. Also do you have teams assigned and sub-teams? This looks like it\'s going to take alot of teamwork and silent communication. |
| Scenario | Re:Green River / White Sands Conflict 2007 | Chewy | I tried to locate the complex on Google Earth but my machine freaked out and I wasnt able to get there. I figure one of has to know (Hammer) and maybe get a screen cap of the layout of the complex so we can get an idea of building position and angles. It may also be possible to get the scenario company to tell us which buildings will be off limits for play. I know that this will only allow us an exterior visual site plan but its something we can work from. Also does anyone know where decomissioned military complex blueprints can be found? Having these would be the next level of tactical planning. |
| Scenario | Re:Green River / White Sands Conflict 2007 | Ajax | BTW, this kind of research is exactly what would fall into the S-2\'s responsibilities. Maps, schematics, Google Earth images, etc. Along with non-operational issues, such as finding certain equip items, land-use rules, etc.
We had a HQ Staff meeting last night, and decided someone w a hispeed connection and internet smarts needs to be the S-2.
Now that I think about it, you\'re the perfect candidate, Chewy. Want to step up? |
| Scenario | Re:Green River / White Sands Conflict 2007 | Hammer | I second that Nomination for Chewy to be S-2. I can probably give you some info about the White Sands missile Base in Green River, Utah. I have personal knowledge of the Base, since I grew up in Green River. If the chance comes that my family and I go to GR, before the scenario. I will get some pictures of the base. As for blueprints.....thats gonna be kinda hard, the base was built better than 40 yrs ago. I will share what I know, I wish I could be there. Its gonna be a raging game. |
| Scenario | Re:Green River / White Sands Conflict 2007 | Chewy | I am more than happy to act in the capacity of S-2 with the understanding that my time constraints flex from week to week. Long range planning is the key to my being able to complete longer tasks like land ownership and land use rules. When it comes to equipment acquisition at good prices I am definately your man. If you can find it lower it may be stolen. lol. |
| Scenario | Re:Green River / White Sands Conflict 2007 | Hammer | Chewy, we all are in that boat. I know exactly where you are with schedules. As for equipment, there are a couple of us now that have sources for equipment. This however is better shared on the Equipment Thread. I will start a post for every one to share the types of equipment that they have sources for. Glad you are willing to accept the S-2 position. Hammer |
| Scenario | Re:Green River / White Sands Conflict 2007 | soul man | We need a firm count on who is planning on the April 21st white sands conflict. please if you are not planning on going there is now need to check in on this thread. this will take 50$ for the game 45-50$ for paint 20$ for a room friday and cash for gas$ no free loaders, if you don\'t have the cash don\'t say that you are going to be there.
So please if you are going check in.
Thanks
Soul Man |

| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | soul man | Hammer, How many people are we planning this for? How are we getting the word out?
Is Hell Boy planning this one? who is taking care of what? |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Hammer | Hi Soul Man, Yes Hell Boy is the planner for Hamburger Hill. You will have to ask him for particulars, I only know where it is going to be held, and basically what is on the main page. As for the logistics, I have been putting the word out on the web, Through other forums and by getting us posted on the Utah Paintball Calender. Also once we have a designated person to do the registration, I will make some flyers and get them posted at the paintball shops around town. As for how many we are planning for, well we are shooting for a bigger turnout than \"Black Thorn\". Another item that I need a Regiment member to attend to is to look into the possibility of having event T-shirts made to sell at the event. Any other questions? Later, HAMMER |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Hell Boy | From my estimates the player cap will be at 75. Two main teams Blue and Red. They will engage at a midpoint in the valley, and will fight for control of Hamburger Hill. There may be objectives that Blue will have to complete in order to win. Red\'s objective is to hold the hill at all cost. After Blue completes all objectives they must have control of the hill by 3pm when the scenario ends. If not Red has succeeded in changing history. Each team will have Captains and squad leaders that are predefined, prior to the game. More specific information will be released later and Captains will be figured out shortly. Let me know what information you guys would like and I will do my best to let you know as much as I can without giving too much away. |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | soul man | I would like to have a regiment get together to deligate responsability. Hell Boy can you have the scenario plan ready for us? I am s-4 so I would like to know what supplies we need, also if we need paint for the Regiment. You know all those little things that make our games great. Hammer when should we have this meeting? soon I hope. |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Hammer | I agree we do need a planning meeting for this scenario. Next, who do we want to attend? I am thinking everyone that holds a staff position. The only time that I have available this week is Early Sat Morning before 11am when my wife goes to work. Where do we want to meet? |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | soul man | I might have to work saturday, so my house is out. Any other times hammer? evening maybe. Whoknows a good place to meet? |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Hammer | Who is available to participate in this meeting? Log on and let us know. thanks |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Hell Boy | I\'m in. I also have a t-shirt Idea |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Hammer | Sounds good, Hell Boy. How many shirts are we thinking of getting made? And is there a local company that will make them? What will our cost be? I am thinking that we have a ADMIN meeting next sat. at the Kill house for planning on Hamburger hill. |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Lucky | If you need a place to meet Sat....
My house may be available. Just let me know. Bring your own chairs though. |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Hammer | Staff meeting to be held at Sat.\'s practice @ the Kill house. Need to discuss t-shirts, patches, Hamburger hill logistics, etc. |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Hell Boy | Here is the game flyer. I will get these out tomorrow
Unfortunately it won\'t let me post bigger than 800x800 so if you want to see it I can e-mail or check it out at one of the shops<br><br>Post edited by: Hell Boy, at: 2007/04/25 19:10 |

| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Hell Boy | This is how the day should play out on the 19th:
8:00 Red registration and chrono begins
9:00 Blue registration and chrono begins and Red moves into the field
10:00 Game ON
12:00 Final Regen before break
12:15-12:45 Break
1:00 Game On
2:45 Final Regen for the day
3:00 Game end and clean up
3:30 Debrief and war stories
This is the walk through including objectives for both teams:
Blue will have a force of about 40 that will move through the valley to find Red.
Objective 1: Move across valley
Objective 2: Intercept enemy communication.
Your commander will know what this is and may assign a team to recover it. Once recovered this will tell you where the enemy is and you are to pursue.
Objective 3: Clear Valley of all enemy forces.
This will be the most difficult of all objectives and must be completed by 3:00 or Blue Loses. There May be a final Objective that your commander will give you direction on. Happy Hunting.
Your Regen Cycle will be every 15 Minutes.
Red will have a force of unknown size. You are to put up defense and hold your positions.
Objective 1: Resist and fall back slowly toward your fixed position.
Objective 2: Make ready any and all means by which to slow, stall, and eliminate the enemy.
Objective 3: Do not let Blue take your fixed position at all cost!
Your team is to make Blue pay for every inch of ground they take. Make them think they have you on the run and then punch it to them. Unleash Hell.
Your Regen Cycle will be every 10 Minutes |

| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Hammer | I have to say, you have outdone yourself Hell Boy. Cool t-shirt. I think that it will be a big winner. Hope we have enough for everyone that wants one. We may have to take orders for anyone else wanting one and mail it to them. |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Hell Boy | Thanks Hammer but a chunk of the thanks needs to go to Chewy who designed the logo for the front and the original flyer that I used for the shirt. Thanks Chewy for your help! |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Chewy | Anytime guys. I can do just about anything you want if you give me enough lead time. |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | soul man | chewy; where is your patch idea? I think you have had plenty of time for that. |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | chaos | Stinger (formerly Mustache) drew up a design for a patch. You guys want to see it? |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Chewy | Sure! Bring it on. The more the merrier. Since this is something we will end up living with for awhile we need to make sure that its something that embodies our credo, ambition, and skills of Rangerball. There have been some decent submissions thus far but none that have cleary screamed YES! I think we need to start with a list of elements we think would be in alignment with what means Rangerball and then select 3 and morph them into something that is logical, attractive, and embodies what we want. Does this sound workable? |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | chaos | Works for me... |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Ghost | Can I get a map to the location? And do we have a team roster for the senerio yet? My guys are all happy being Vietcong, although a good number of them are over six feet tall. |

| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Bad Karma Six | AWESOME EVENT GUYS!!!!!!!!
Thanks for putting this on. We loved it! Looking forward to another. |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Hell Boy | Thanks to all who attended. The event was a success, and all who came had a great time. The Red team was able to rewrite history and held the hill. It was almost lost a few times but they stayed strong and held. Blue was strong. They fought for every inch and earned it! They had reached the summit several times but were to underpowered to hold it. Bad Karma and Desert Edge both made it a great time and there attendance helped make the day. Our Kanab group, Ghost Echo, made everyone on Blue watch where they walked in hopes not to find something nasty. We had some great leaders and great plays. The game was fun and we hope to see you all at the next event.
If any one wants a t-shirt I have a few left that you can get at a deal price. Just go to the contact us section and send us an email and I will give you this sweet deal. |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | Hammer | HUAH! Great event. I had a blast, and I am still alittle stiff. Bad Karma & Desert Edge, glad you guys could make it, it was a blast playing with all of you. Special kudos, first to Desert Edge, you guys really added alot of muscle and experience to Red Team. Next, To Ghost Echo, Great showing guys, and Chaos as always you bring alot to the game, and those grenades that you brought were great, some of the best I have used in years. HAMMER |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill | T Bone | Thanks for the kind words Hammer. We\'ll shoot with you any time. I\'m almost over the soreness. Yesterday was the worst. As you could tell, I love to run around all over the place. I\'m not used to running in that sandy, hilly stuff too much. It was good for us though. Glad it wasn\'t in august. Overall it was a pretty fairplayed event. Considering the reffing cituation at these events, that\'s saying a lot. See you next time, or maybe the time after that. |
| Scenario | Green River/White Sands Canceled | Dead Eye | I just received an email that states the following
This is an e-mail from \'paradoxgames\' Message: Due to on going negotiations with government organizations we are forced to postpone the White Sands Nuclear Showdown game. We are still pursuing all the permits necessary to produce games in the area. As soon as we receive all necessary permits we will notify all the team interested. Since April 21st is a Date many of us have planned to play paintball Paradox will be producing a scenario event called the Triad Challenge. This is a three team format played in an SPPL style format. There will be three flags placed evenly between each two teams and one additional flag in the center of the field. The location is about 20 min East from Salt Lake City at the Skull Valley Field. This area is a Juniper forest area that takes up hundreds of acres. Directions and details at http://www.ParadoxGames.com |
| Scenario | Hamburger Hill: After Action Reports | Ajax | Here\'s a great write up by Jayce of Desert Edge. Thought I\'d post it here, and maybe prompt you guys to include some more AAR material.
What was the \'extreme flanking attack\' by blue that he mentions?
How did the grenades and booby traps work out?
Who was the lone blue player who almost captured the hill?
-----------------
Hamburger Hill
Team DesertEdge returns victorious, after changing history in the Hamburger Hill scenario game hosted by the Rangerball Regiment. Rangerball is an extreme scenario style based on military strategy and extreme fields. This scenario pushed DesertEdge to their limits by pitting them against some of Utah\'s best scenario players in a rolling battle to defend our hill.
DesertEdge players were assigned the part of being the North Vietnamese, attempting to defend a single position against superior numbers. From the beginning DE and rangerball locals worked together to keep the American advance as tripped up as possible. This Featured smart work by snipers, and sneaking flanking tactics. The morning was spent keeping an impressive offensive by groups such as Bad Karma locked out of reach of the infamous hill. But word did come in that part of the Rangerball team had swept in an extreme flank (remember, Rangerball favors the athletic) and was assaulting the hill. The assault was stopped, the Americans were feeling the pain of advancing, but impressive numbers brought the game increasingly close to the hill.
At noon everybody recieved a brief respite for lunch, and a time to reload. But such happy times were not to last, as the game was back on. This time things were tight, as the Americans were started close to the hill, ready to assault.
With the heavy gunners helping direct fire on the hill, the rest of DesertEdge led sneak attacks on the bottom of the beautiful red rock formation that was Hamburger Hill, forming a veritable windshield wiper. After several passes of death and destruction, DE was pulled to the hilltop for a final series of assaults.
From our vantage we could see the impressive numbers arrayed against us. What followed was a series of amazing coordinated assaults that were fended off by amazing feats from the defenders. DE members were seen jumping from boulders to attack squads below. Running assaults on flanks to destroy fixed positions, and well placed grenades in squads.
Through the afternoon, only a single American reached the summit of the hill, via a back route, only to be gunned down within seconds by a DE charge from the opposite slope. His seeming victory stolen in mid-cheer.
At the end of the day, DE had helped changed history. Hamburger Hill remained in NVA hands. The battle was hard fought, and the combatants were tired. One-hundred degree temperatures, miles of sand and rock, all add up to tiredness when operating a running battle for so long. But it is all worth the fun that can only be had in such an alternative play style. DesertEdge would like to thank the developers of Rangerball, and we will most surely be there for more events in the future.
Story by Jason Hall aka. Jayce |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill: After Action Reports | Hammer | Okay, so this from my point of view. I was team leader for the Red Team (NVA). The morning started out by moving up to the pump house staging area. from there I assembled fire teams, The Ghilie Team (Snipers) were led by Chewy(Mike Rough) and a couple of his boys, along with a DE guy or two. The South Flanking team, made up of the Ghost Echo team from Kanab, and led by Chaos ( Bob). And the North Flank team, made up of Desert Edge guys and led by T-Bone (Tim). and the Command Team, made up of a mix of DE and Rangerball guys and led by yours truely.
Anyhow the Command team headed for the hill straight off and got into position to watch the start. From our high vantage point we could communicate with all of the teams and watch the action with a a pair of binoculars. The Ghilie team slowed the advance greatly, constantly popping up and ambushing the Blue team. At one point in the ambushes, a three man team from Blue managed to outdistance the Ghilie team and made a wide arch to the far south end of the valley and circling back on the south end of the Hill.
About an hour into the Game, I spotted the Three Blue coming our way from the south, and sent the Double Trouble, my son and another DE guy to fortify the south end. A heavy firefight ensued, and the three Blues made it mid way across the Hill, before we stopped them cold, with a heavy barrage of paint and grenades.
My first kill of the day was with a grenade, I hucked over a tree, splattering the Blue. They tried to regroup at the Regen and make another push for the high point, but the North flank team(Team DE) pushed up the east slope of the hill effectively cutting them apart, and ending their early assualt on the hill. After that battle it would be a couple of hours before any sizeable force got into range.
Finally after the lunch break, I pulled back my ambush teams to the base of the hill. Heavy battles ensued at the base of the hill, with grenades being hurled at advancing Blue forces, and seemingly endless streams of paintballs whizzing down on Blue. Late into the afternoon, all Red forces were pulled up onto the hill, for a last stand battle to hold the Hill from Blue. A single Blue sniper (Soul Man) snuck up on the north side and was able to shoot several of us on top(Including yours truely in the back of the neck) before being justly dispatched.
The Blue\'s continued their assault in force, trying different approaches to try gaining an advantage, but to no avail, as the Hilltop defenders held tight. After several heavy firefights, Blue pulled back to regroup, They then assaulted in a massive wave against the south East side of the hill.
While we were distracted by this massive attack, once again a single sniper snuck around, and past sentry\'s up the hillside and once again shooting me. It was the Leader of the Blue team( man, and after all the talk about him never getting on top of my hill...), He was able to shoot several Red\'s. Upon reaching the top he began whooping and calling his team to push to the top. Unfortunately, his glory was short lived, as heavy fire brought his short lived victory to an end, before he could hardly climb the highest point.
After that event, Blue was shut down, Red began a wide open hail of paint from the top of the hill in all directions. It was a good day of paintball.<br><br>Post edited by: Ajax, at: 2007/06/02 20:23 |

| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill: After Action Reports | Ajax | Awesome! So who was the lone Blue Commander at the end? Was that Soulman again?
(BTW, as I write this, while picturing the action in my head, there\'s a real machinegun firing from the perimeter of the FOB. Sounds like a 7.62mm M-240B mounted in one of the towers. It\'s night, so they must have seen something. Makes for nice punctation to the story.)

| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill: After Action Reports | Hell Boy | The Blue commander was Deadeye, and he took about 4 with him before he went. He will be posting his AAR shortly. |
| Scenario | Re:Hamburger Hill: After Action Reports | soul man | deadeye made the last climb on the hill, I was helping bad karma for the last 20 minutes, I was to tired to try that again. I tried to draw attention so deadeye could make it to the top. looking back, I should have helped him and then maybe we could have had the top for a few more minutes. |

| Scenario | Pick up game TOMORROW | Tigerprawn | Hey guys,
I\'m trying to put together a quick pick up game near Hurricane tomorrow afternoon at around five to welcome home my brother in law.
Petty Officer Chris Whitten (USN) has been serving overseas in the war on terror and is visiting his sister here in the STG for a couple of days before his next assignment in the Pacific northwest.
To help welcome him home I was hoping to get a quick game together. I know it\'s extremely short notice. But thats kinda how these things are I guess.
if you can make it PLEASE come and pass the word along.
We\'ll be meeting in the Cheveron parking lot at the end of Telegraph on the Washington/Hurricane border. The one with the Blimpie...
For those that don\'t remember me, I was the guy in the DCU\'s at Hamburger Hill (blue team).
Sound off if you can make it or email with questions eljonsmtih@gmail.com
Thanks Rangerball! |
| Scenario | Re:Pick up game TOMORROW | Tigerprawn | We\'re up to six possibly eight so far. big thanks to all who can make it! |
| Scenario | Scenario Field | Hell Boy | There has been an offer made to the regiment to take control of a section of land and build a paintball park.
It is in an area close to Hurricane, just past coral canyon. The main park would be 9 acres with a possible overflow of about 40 acres. I am posting this to see what the people out there think and what they would like to see in such a park. I am also wondering what kind of support a facility of this nature would have. Please let me know what you all think. |
| Scenario | Re:Scenario Field | Dead Eye | I love the idea, I think the area is great and would be fun to play. Just a couple of concerns, first the seed money, where do we get it and how much do we get? Second, who is going to be there on every Saturday and some weekdays running the thing and not playing? Third, who is going to do the reffing? And of course to take care of all of this how much do we charge the players and how much do we pay the employees? How do we market it? What kind of hours? Who is doing the construction of the courses and what are they paid? ect. ect.... |
| Scenario | Re:Scenario Field | Hell Boy | I think that you have some good points. I think that at first we work off of what ever we can get. Donations or otherwise. Once we get going and with the number of contacts we have made we will be able to get grants and donations. I think as far as who will run it, we will until a point at which we have designated employees. I know that there are plenty of people out there looking to get a job. The same goes for reffing games, we will until we get other people to do so. the charge will start low and go up as our facility gets better. The rest will be figured out as we go. |
| Scenario | Re:Scenario Field | soul man | I think we need to take this deal, but what do the owners want from us? We also don\'t have to have it open to the public every Saturday. I think the regiment will construct the park. there is much more to go over. Hell Boy when can we get more info on this park? |
| Scenario | Re:Scenario Field | Hell Boy | This is the land plan or the sports park. The current owner is the BLM they would like to see a development plan over the next few years. I am currently working on that. I have talked to our construction manager and he wants to see the area so he can get a feel of what kind of discount he could give for materials and grading. Thats all I have for now.
I guess that it will not let me post the image. I will get a smaller one and try again.

| Scenario | Re:Scenario Field | Tigerprawn | I think this would be a great idea!
I live in that area and would be more than willing to help staff the field. (I have more time than money)
Also, I have a relative who recently closed a paintball park in Manti (I think thats where it was). And he is willing to sell me all of his surplus equipment including nets, obstacles, as well as rental guns and masks. I think he already sold the air filling stations. But you get the idea.
Hit me up in a private email and we can try to work out some logistics.

| Scenario | Re:Scenario Field | soul man | how about some free advertising when we get the park open Mr. Tigerprawn? |
| Scenario | Re:Scenario Field | Tigerprawn | Of course ;) |
| Equipment | be ready | soul man | I hope everone has there stuff ready to go before you get there. I would say this week before the 24th shoot a few paintballs, buy some bataries squegy and what ever else you need. I will not be at the check in area to help with the markers. so fix it before you get there. I will be with the green team. so I can help a little there. |
| Equipment | Re:be ready | Hammer | Now that Mt. Suribachi is over, lets turn this forum to discussing personal gear. I think that probably the first topic should be about our tactical vests. there are a number of MOLLE type vests on the market. And paintball specific pouches can be bought from Specops store, at least until Ryan\'s supplier can offer them. Any how this gives us our next unifiying point. For starters, I get Cheaper than Dirt catalogs all the time. They carry MOLLE type vests in OD Green, Black, and a color they call Coyote(kinda Tan), anyhow they sale for $19.97 each. They also carry a MOLLE drop leg platform for $17.97. With these MOLLE platforms, one can buy the pouches you desire and attach them however works best for you. This beats the ones that Specops sells. They have a whole assortment of pouches, and such for a decent price. The brand on it is MIL-SPEC PLUS, it is imported. but for paintball action this stuff is perfect. |
| Equipment | Next Purchases | Ajax | Here are some other things to spend money on:
Patches - Still need to get \'rangerball\' tabs, and a Regimental patch for our new uniforms.
Marker Rack - Would be nice for having in our own team tent/area
Fill Station/Scuba tank - This has been talked about alot
Just be aware that after paying for the ACUs, the account will be pretty low. May have to put another larger scenario together to raise funds.
Ajax |
| Equipment | Re:be ready | Hammer | I n response to Ajax\'s post, I would say that the patches need to be the next priority. Especially, since we are running at low funds as Ajax said. I will discuss this topic more over on a Scenario thread.
Next, I think that the Marker Rack is a good Idea. However this can be made, If a suitable pattern is found. I would point towards the Ranger Regiment Tent, I think that a Surplus Army tent would be the most appropriate. |
| Equipment | Re:Next Purchases | Ajax | FYI, after a couple more reimbursements, the Regiment\'s account will have around $220.<br><br>Post edited by: Ajax, at: 2007/03/02 07:19 |
| Equipment | Re:be ready | Hammer | Do we have any idea how much Patches would cost us? I am thinking the kind that have velcro on the back, to stick to our new ACU jackets. Lets get a quote on the cost and make getting patches our next goal. Next item, as we are getting low on funds. I would highly recommend that no further deductions be made, unless for a Scenario that will bring in a income. For example, using funds to purchase paint for the Scenario, that is sold at the event. Any other comments? Hammer |
| Equipment | Re:be ready | Chewy | Here are some sources on the patches we may want to look into:
http://www.americanpatch.com/index.html
These guys do only min 50 order
http://www.saundersinsignia.com/MachineMadePriceChart.doc
Will do min 10 order but price is higher per unit.
TABS:
http://www.uniformnametape.com/index.asp
3.50 each. We are 1 letter under the max for RANGERBALL
This seems to be the best source for tabs so far.
We may want to consider creating special patches for some of the larger scenarios that could be part of the packet. They would be smaller and not cost as much to put together. Something to think about. |
| Equipment | Markers | Hammer | thought that I might start up a thread about markers. Not really focusing on any one brand or maker, but looking to get some input from members about particular markers, their strenghts, weaknesses, value/cost, and so on. This way we can share our knowledge, with the new members that are coming into the Regiment and looking for info from the point of view of somebody that has used the marker, not the Salesman. So fire it up. |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | Hammer | This is our Forum, not some smack talkin freak show. . .

| Equipment | Re:Markers | Hammer | Okay, so I am pretty much a dyed in the wool, Tippmann man. I have been using Tippmann Markers since 1996, when I ditched a worn out marker that I will not willingly admit that I owned. Anyhow the first marker that I purchased was a used Tippmann Pro-lite. I spent alittle money and bought a All-American barrel for it and was off into the woods to sniper a few players over the next several years. By and far, it has been the most reliable marker that I have owned. It always functioned well, and can still be purchased for a reasonable price. It is not as exciting as some of the newer Tippmann markers, but for a New player it is very cost effective and will get them in the game. |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | Hammer | Tippmann 98\'s were my next acquistitions, I purchased a new one for my son for Christmas a few years ago, which he has upgraded several times with little extras. The other 98, was a used one that I bought off a player that needed the money and was going to hawk it off at a pawn shop. It is not new, but it still works like a Tippmann. I like the 98 custom, it is a good mid range gun, with alot of options for upgrades. It does have a Flat line barrel available, however you have to be fairly competent at working on markers to deal with the Flatline. It takes some dialing in, but once it is dialed in, watch out it is a deadly marker. Fairly inexpensive, can be bought online for around the $150 range, or on Ebay for less sometimes. |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | Hammer | My last marker purchase was a Tippmann A5 off of Ebay. I am still tinkering and experimenting with this marker. I like the Flatline, and some of the features. It is a bit more pricey, but moves the owner into a higher bracket, I think. I will post more as I get more familiar with this marker. All you other Rangers that have A5\'s need to chime in about their feelings on the A5. |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | soul man | sorry to but in to your thread hammer. I don\'t own a tippman. I am pretty sure I never will. I do like them and for ranger ball they are great.
I play with a shocker. and I love it. I have also played with an ion wich was great. spyders too, not as good but still fun |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | Hammer | Its all good Soul Man. This Thread is intended to share info about any marker used by Members. So share away. |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | Hammer | Talking about Markers, It would be great to get some info on the new Tippmann X7. I am sure there are some members that are intrigued about it. Any one have info????
Also, If you have info about accessories for markers and want to share about them, then by all means post it.

| Equipment | Re:Markers | BadAndy | Another satisfied A5 owner......
I\'ve been using my A5 for about a year now after doinking around with a few other mech. markers and I have to say it\'s so far the most reliable! At Mt. Suribachi there were more than a few people with your standard mech marker that were having issues with chopped paint. The cyclone does worlds to help eliminate this problem. As far as accuracy that depends on so many other factors don\'t be surpised when you have to spend some bucks on a new barrel and a few other mods. With the new x7 out the price has dropped of the A5 which in my opinion is a better buy for someone looking to upgrade from a tourney marker to something more reliable. I\'ll post the stock things you can to to ensure your A5 is in top shape and my reasoning against the X7. |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | Ajax | Thanks BadAndy,
For clarification, what do you mean by \'mech\' markers? Mechanical, or electrical tourney markers? |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | BadAndy | Clarification
I mean mechanical markers...I\'m never one to put too much faith in electronics...especially out in the field. |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | BadAndy | My Opinion on best Mods for A5\'s
#1 Shocktech bolt. You always read those ads...increased accuracy...blah blah...increased efficiency...blah blah....Frankly I didn\'t believe it. What intrieged me was the fact it was made from delrin a PTFE impregnated very smooth plastic. That had to be WAY better then the plain plastic POS thats stock. 2nd they put an o-ring where it contacts the powertube....humm there has to be a difference. So I sprung for the $20 bucks a got one to try. Best $20 I spent if does everything they say it does.
#2 Palmer in-line stabilizer. I\'m a co2 guy and probably will be for quite some time. If your not going to be able to spend the money for a decent air tank for awhile then I implore you to spend the $80 and get the stab. Holy smokes it makes a difference! For those not in the know the Palmer regulates the co2 to only allow co2 gas (No liquid...I repeat NO liquid) and only at the pressure you set it to. i.e. no pressure spikes and consitent firing. Big accuracy bonus. At Mt. Suribachi I stepped up to the chrono after my marker has sat for 6 months.....299 ont the money! I was the only one that I could see that passed the chrono first try. I also got a gauge for mine to get a idea of what pressures my marker runs best at.
#3 a stock.....any stock. This is the no brainer way to fire a crossbow or a gun or a marker accuratly...nuff said.
#4 remote. Get the tank off the marker...you\'ll thank me.
#5 Hopper. The stock one is...ahhh so so. Best one i\'ve found so far..the new X7 hopper that IS compatable with your A5 and $8 at the Violin store!
More to follow on the X7 |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | BadAndy | Tuning your A5 #1
#1 Polish your reciever! Inside your reciever halves there is alot of overspray from when it was painted. Look at where your bolt and hammer slide when you marker is fired. This is the area that you want cleaned and polished. Take Med. emery cloth and remove the overspray. Then take fine or extra fine and polish the surface till it\'s smooth and it shines! This will increase the air efficiency of your marker and make the o-rings last longer. Don\'t get crazy with the emery cloth! There are divits and imperfections when your marker was cast! Don\'t try to smooth these out! Your just looking to remove the overspray and polish just the surface. If you do too much you can mishaped your reciever and kill the efficiency and prematurely wear your marker. |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | BadAndy | Tuning your A5 #2
Tune your trigger! This is for stock A5 triggers only First remove your seer from your trigger assmebly. Use the fine or extra fine emry cloth and lay the sheet flat on a table. Place a side of the seer flat on the emry cloth and polish in circular motions. Do this untill the sides is shiny and smooth. Repeat with the other side. Next attached to your trigger is a u-shaped piece of metal that trips your seer allowing the bolt to slide forward and fire your marker. This piece has burrs on it from manufacturing. These burrs can get worse with time and will cause your marker to fire slow or sometimes not at all! (Happened to me) Remove this piece frome the trigger and use a flat needle file and remove the burrs and slightly round off the edges so there\'s nothing to catch. Viola! smoother trigger action! Let me know if you have any questions. If you don\'t have the time or are mechanically deficient then my services are available. |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | BadAndy | Tuning your A5 #3
This one is pretty basic but important.....your reciever port from your cyclone to your chamber is pretty rough from the factory too. Clean it up with a needle file and emry cloth ensuring a smooth transition from cyclone to chamber. |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | Hammer | Hey thanks fo ryour input BadAndy. I have done gunsmithing for several years and didnt think about appling the same processes to Paintball Markers. Some sharp tips.
Hey Soul Man, I saw you chime in once. I know that you run a couple of different Markers, do you mind sharing your experience with Markers other than Tippmann(ugh, can\'t believe I asked for anything but Tippamnn, Ha-Ha) This whole forum only works if we all share. Thanks again Bad Andy. Hammer |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | soul man | I don\'t know exactly what people want to . all of the things badandy mentioned I do. and yes they all help the A-5 and the 98C. I get a little more involved than andy, but what he said will help tons. It is noticeable after a polish how smooth your marker is.
Mech markers are not always more reliable. I have had very little troubles with my markers. but for the most part they seam to take more of a beating, mech that is.<br><br>Post edited by: soul man, at: 2007/03/07 02:03 |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | soul man | I have shot many markers, so if you whant to know about a particular one I might be able to explain how I feel about them. I have repaired many also. So if you would like to know the ins and outs I might be of some help. I am sure there are also some othe players out there that can give helpful input. |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | Ajax | Can\'t remember if it was mentioned, but if you own a 98 Custom, or any open-bolt design, one of the smartest things you can do is buy one of those \'rocket cocker\' things that fits over the bolt and keeps dirt and sand from getting into the action. With the kind of stuff we get into, its mandatory. |
| Equipment | BadAndy a Candidate for Regiment? | Ajax | Just for everyone\'s reference, BadAndy played on the Blue team in Suribachi. He rode w me to the AO and back, so I got to know him a bit. Seems like he\'d be a great candidate for acceptance into the Regiment -- if he has time. I think he has a demanding schedule for the next little while. Here\'s what I know:
- He acquitted himself well in the battlespace, from what I saw. Wasn\'t one to hang back.
- He\'s a big-time mountain biker, a thin wiry guy, and looks like he\'s in better shape than most of us.
- Moved here recently, and loves tactical/scenario play. Was searching for a group like us.
- Had his \'sierra\' together. When I picked him up, he had all his gear ready to go, packed into a single bag. That probably impressed me the most.
So, BadAndy, what\'ya say? You up for this?

| Equipment | Re:BadAndy a Candidate for Regiment? | BadAndy | I\'m down
I\'d be honored to join the regiment. I just don\'t want to let you guys down, like I told Ajax I wrench for a couple of big time racers and certain weekends I\'m off with them helping put people on podiums and such. Other than those particular events I\'m avaiable (And IF I can get a weekend pass from the Boss, ha!). Suribachi was my first game in a long while so I\'m getting back into the swing of things. (I was gonna sell my gear becuase I thought nobody played seriously around here, good thing I found you guys.)
My long game sucks...my marker set up and experience has been mostly CQB, when It get close in I can get pretty wicked.
Unfortunatly I\'m heading up north to visit the In-laws this weekend but nothings on the calender for the rest of the month I believe. I\'ll check and get back to you on that. |
| Equipment | Re:BadAndy a Candidate for Regiment? | Ajax | CQB eh? Just what the Regiment needs for Green River, which is 21 Apr. Would you be avble on 20/21 Apr? |
| Equipment | Re:BadAndy a Candidate for Regiment? | BadAndy | I\'ll check my calender
What\'s up at Green River? |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | Dead Eye | I have used quite a few different guns in my years of play and I currently have a Palmer Blazer (http://www.palmer-pursuit.com/). On it I also have a Palmer Stabilizer and it is one of the finest guns if have used. As mentioned the stabilizer is an excellent addition to any marker for consistency. The reason I like the Blazer so much is that it is in essence a custom gun. I use to live near Glenn Palmer and had him doing work on my Nelspot 007 to get it to the point that it was a step above everyone else, put in a quick change for the 12 gram, added a pump (wow showing my age). He was the first to create a true semi auto gun and it was not a blow back gun. The Blazer has no kick to it and must have a hopper that agitates or you have to shake the gun every once in a while so that the balls will unjam and feed. The two barrels that I have are matched to the gun for a smooth finish that gives great performance. It is one of the quietest guns I have fired. One of the great advantages is that if you ever have a ball break the clean out is simple. The bolt comes right out while the gun is gassed up and you can slide the squeegee from back to front put the bolt back in and fire the next shoot. The only time I have broken paint in the gun was when I played out the air to empty and the last ball choked. The efficiency of the gun is excellent also. At Suribachi I went through 2000 rounds for the day and only had to change out my 20 oz tank after 1500 of those. The only down side of the gun has been gassing it up when it is cold (at Black Thorn), it wouldn’t hold the gas, solution was to keep the gun in the house instead of in the car the night before a cold day game.
I also own a Tippman custom 98 as a backup gun, since you never know what may happen on any given day. I went with this as a backup because they are durable and I hope to get my son playing soon, he’s 10. I also have a Sheridan jtx/xts that has an interesting design concept but lousy implementation, ball drops in to the chamber that is oversized and then pushes it in to a barrel that then tappers in to get the .68 cal, if the paint is brittle it is only good for painting the bushes and anybody with in 5 ft. Have hated the gun from the day it was given to me. I also have two 12 gram pump guns, a Bushmaster Line SI 14 inch and the Nelspot 007(the gun that started the game).
I have played with barrowed Spyders both electronic and mechanical and have found they both work great. I have also played with a Bob Long Intimidator and it was a lot of fun and performed very well, couldn’t afford to pay for all the paint that it would go through, more for speed ball with its wild milling and paint fade.
I have played with the plastic Splatmasters both tube and magazine feed, and many other miscellaneous guns. The one thing I have found is that no one gun meets everyone’s needs, playing style and aesthetics. I suggest that you swap guns for a bit with someone and see what you think; you might find something that you like more or you may not but it never hurts.

| Equipment | Re:Markers | Hammer | Bad Andy, The Green River event is a team event taking place at the abandoned missile base located in Green River, Utah. It is about a 4 1/2 hr to 5 hr trip one way. There is going to be several other teams there as well. It is a scenario paint only event, and there is a $50 per person fee. |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | Hammer | Since this thread started as a place to discuss Markers, I am going to kick it back to that topic.
I have recently made alot of dramatic changes to my A5 marker. To start with, I had Soul Man tune it up, and give it a polish job. Then I had a Alum. Power tube installed, Sweet! But that was still not enough, so when I was in SLC I stopped at the Special Ops Store and bought a A5A2 Commando air-thru Stock, Double Sweet! So I got it all put together and test fired it, man that rocks. But I didnt stop there, I purchased a Vortex Mod, a Lighting Rod, and a QEPH, Man does it rock Now! The only thing that I have not done to it yet is install a E-Grip(maybe later). So now I have a whole slew of accessories to test out and see how they perform. |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | Hammer | Yeah so I had an idea for a Heavy Machine gun Marker. After watching the Double Trouble at Hamburger Hill, and watching Hell Boy open up at the end. I am convinced that a A5 with a E-trigger is the way to go, with a few modifications, First it needs a HUGE hopper! I am thinking one that will hold 1000 rds, roughly the size of a basketball would work. And then, it needs to be run on HPA, get a small scuba tank and mount it to a pack, with a remote. And then have pouches on the pack that hold a a full 500 rd bag of paintballs, perhaps have four pouches. This would be the ultimate heavy gunner. So who wants to be the Heavy Gunner? |
| Equipment | Re:Markers | Hell Boy | A friend of mine does what you propose exactly. He has a 20 lb scuba and usually carries 20 140 pods and goes through about 3 cases a game.He runs a double trouble though. |
| Equipment | Tactical Gear | Hammer | I have been loking at the MOLLE gear that Special Ops sells . it looks pretty handy, especially for those of us with tactical vests that are made for MOLLE gear. I have already mentioned else where about the Tactical vests for sale through Cheaper than Dirt. Is any other Member interested? |
| Equipment | Re:Tactical Gear | soul man | how much? what configurations do they have? is the web sight just cheaper than dirt? |
| Equipment | Re:Tactical Gear | Hammer | Yeah Soul Man, you can go look on your search engine and type in \"www.CheaperthanDirt.com\" and that should do the trick. I get their catalogs mailed to me, so I only use the web site to order stuff. You should be able to find the gear by typing the search box \"MOLLE Gear\", let me know if you have difficulties. Hammer |
| Equipment | Cheaperthandirt.com | Ajax | Man, where has this outfit been?!? These prices are outstanding, and they seem to have a huge selection. Usually MOLLE gear is pretty pricey, but this looks reasonable.
I\'m going to be making a few purchases here myself in the next few days.
