Operation River Gate
Location -- Mesquite, NV
Date -- 29 November 2008 (Saturday)

This will be the first Rangerball event integrated with a regular scenario game. We'll conduct this in conjunction with Pirates Paradise, and Tim Andrus, who is the overall organizer/producer. The Rangerball Regiment will manage the Rangerball event. As players register for Operation Rivergate they'll have the option of registering for this event, for an additional $10.

The 'main scenario' will take place on the same field in Mesquite, NV where we played the Virgin Valley Challenge back in May, and where the recent SPPL event was held. Tim is expecting at least 100 players for the main game, and it might be well over that. The Rangerball event will happen in the land around the main scenario field, in a much larger area. But, we'll also maneuver and fight through the main game at various times.

There will be a Blue Team (an offensive patrol) and a Green Team (defenders/ambushers) for the Rangerball portion. When operating outside the main game boundaries, Blue and Green will engage each other. Blue will be manuevering to secure objectives, while Green tries to prevent them.

When Blue or Green Rangerball players enter into the main game area, they will engage and be engaged by the two scenario teams, Red and Yellow. (There's more to this, but keeping the explanation simple here). Red and Yellow players must stay within the main game boundaries, but Blue and Green can manuever across those boundaries.

The Rangerball event will begin at 0730 on Saturday morning, with Blue (U.S. Army Rangers) launching a patrol to find arms caches and insurgent base camps (defended by Green). They'll manuever to several objectives, and need to reach them by certain times. Green will ambush, snipe and counterattack in order to delay/deter Blue from reaching those objectives.

The main game begins at 1000, and (depending on progress) by that time the Rangerball event should be approaching the boundaries of the main field. There will be Rangerball objectives inside the main game field, and the Blue or Green teams will try to locate and capture those objectives, while moving and/or fighting through ongoing battles between Red and Yellow. Event ends when the main game ends, around 1600.

So, portions of the Rangerball event will occur separately, apart from where Red and Yellow will play, while other portions will happen at the same time and in the same battlespace as the main game. This is what we mean by 'integrated'.
